چکیده

The discovery that the royal jelly of the honeybee contains large quantities of nucleic acids raises the question, "Where do these nucleic acids come from?" A review of pertinent literature strongly suggests that the same mechanism is involved as in the case of the extrachromosomal DNA of amphibian oocytes.

The Therapeutic Effects of Bioactive Compounds in Honeybee Products

Honey, royal jelly, propolis, and bee pollen are potentially beneficial to humans due to their bioactive agents. Different molecules of these honeybee products have been extracted and pharmacologically characterized. Phenolic acid, Major Royal Jelly Proteins (MRJPs), and oligosaccharides are major bioactive substances of these products. Propolis, especially Brazilian type, contains caffeic acid...

A Survy on Deletion and Insertions Presented in MRJP3 (Major Royal Jelly Protein 3) Gene in Isfahan Persian Hony Bee (Apis Mellifera Meda)

Objectives: Royal jelly (RJ), a secretion of both the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands of nurse workers, is believed to play a central role in honeybee queen development. Important component of royal jelly are proteins which form about 50% of the dry mass of RJ. Major royal jelly proteins (MRJPs) are the dominant proteinaceous component of royal jelly and constitute about 82-90% of total pr...

Determination of 10-hydoxy -2-decenoic acid in pure Iranian royal jelly by HPLC method

Royal jelly (RJ) is generally regarded as the major reason of the significant morphological and functional differences between queen and worker bees. The unique and chemically most interesting feature of RJ is its fatty acids. RJ fatty acids are short-chained, 8-10 carbon free acids that are usually either hydroxy fatty acids or dicarboxylic acids. The major fatty acid in RJ is 10-hydroxy-2-dec...
